Free Baseline Concussion Testing
The Dr. Robert C. Cantu Concussion Center at Emerson Hospital, received a generous grant from the Oak Foundation.  The primary objective of this grant is outreach to children to provide free baseline concussion testing. The outreach also includes concussion education for parents, guardians, and coaches if interested.
Framingham Youth Lacrosse has a unique opportunity to partner with The Dr. Robert C. Cantu Concussion Center to achieve thier outreach objective.  With this partnership they would provide our athletes a comprehensive baseline concussion testing at no cost  to FYL or our families and coaches. They are hosting upcoming baseline concussion testing at the Concord and Westford sites. The fliers below outline the dates, details and registration requirements. This is a tremendous opportunity for our athletes and their families to gather baseline information that may be helpful in the event of a head injury.

We have grown over the years into a program which we are all proud. We have always made our program about community first and in this day and age, we feel this is necessary. We involve all of our families and welcome feedback to improve your experience.

Having said this, our program does not run without you. First of all, thank you to all that have volunteered in the past and continue to do so. Second, "YOU DON'T HAVE TO KNOW ABOUT LACROSSE TO BE INVOLVED!" Our coaches get trained. And we pay for it. We are hiring experts to devise practice plans, so none of us will show up empty handed. So please volunteer. Personally, I've been doing this for 16 years at every level. I love it more that my kids are no longer in the program. We have many coaches who do this, so I am not alone. But if we are willing to do this when our kids are out of the program, there is no reason you can't take on a small role as coach, team parent, event coordinator, etc... Even something as small as name and number cards for the parents.

I can't wait to see you all at indoor and as always, call if you need anything.
